Onepiece

  

One-piece is a garment which is all in one piece rather than two pieces. Such garments designed in this format are swimsuits, dresses (as it is only one piece) jumpsuits and playsuits, which usually show a top and shorts/trousers being placed together creating a one-piece. They may be created in several fabrics such as jersey or cotton. One-pieces may be worn with jackets or accessorised with belts.

Jumpsuits and playsuits were popular during the 1970s which featured a bell bottom silhouette rather than pulling in at the ankle. The 2010s have shown a rise in the trend of jumpsuits and playsuits and catwalks for 2011 and 2012 saw many designers reference one-pieces. Salvatore Ferragamo S/S 11 created a high rise body suit in green tinged gold, Bottega Veneta S/S 12 showcased a luxurious sectioned off body suit splattered with pattern detailing. Emanuel Ungaro S/S 12 displayed a brightly floral patterned loose jumpsuit accessorised with a thin gold belt showing a modernised version.
