Custo Barcelona

Custo Barcelona Woman Autumn-Winter 2017-18 – According to the show notes, Custo Barcelona designer Custo Dalmau’s AW collection ‘Light Years,’ was inspired by ‘individuality and shining light.’ This much was clear from the futuristic, metallic pieces being paraded down the runway, the foil tones were complimented by shimmering velvet and mohair.

Each model made anonymous with a pair of plain black or coloured lensed sunglasses and minimal hair and make-up, ensuring the clothes in this collection did all the talking.

Asymmetric shapes were a common trend throughout the collection, which when paired with patchwork materials of metallic and patterns, created a fish scale effect on many of the gowns. Across the co-ed models, outerwear was a common theme, and one not to be missed. Particular standout pieces included a baby pink metallic shearling jackets, semi-sheer, diamond print men’s trench coat, metallic puffer coats, and of course any jacket which included metallic mohair.

Dalmau’s collection was certainly ‘Light Years’ ahead of current fashion, bringing out futuristic trends and putting the fun back into fashion.
