J.Crew

J.Crew Woman Autumn-Winter 2017-18 – The J.Crew showcase looked more like a group of eclectic, well-dressed friends hanging out than it did a formal show, and it worked. The diverse choice of models combined with J.Crew’s laid back, everyday style was a breath of fresh air and a welcome change from many of the intense shows at NYFW.

Denim, camo, wool, and of course Jenna Lyons style layering, were the main trends of J.Crew’s AW17 collection, demonstrating practicality with a contemporary twist at its finest. Certain looks stood out; such as a midi skirt consisting of layers upon layers of peach tulle, with a grass green, chunky knit sweater draped over the top, sparkly shoes and bright green glass earrings.

Tulle was a common occurrence, two particularly stunning examples was the tightly pleated navy layered midi, with acres of black tutu underneath, and the mint green layered midi skirt which was paired with a long leopard print coat. This wasn’t the only clashing of prints and colours, furry leopard print clutches were paired with sailor style sweaters and camo jackets, while khaki and denim was given clashing patchwork makeovers.

Navy and camel were common throughout the menswear selections, creating smart and chic looks, especially when paired together. Cardigans, knitted jumpers and wool suits were certainly having a moment for, with tailored geek-tweed everywhere.

As always, J.Crew gave high fashion trends an everyday sensibility, truly translating this seasons fashion for the everyday.
