Above The Knee
Above the Knee is a phrase to imply where a garment sits on a person. Above the knee denotes that garment sits anywhere between below the hips and above the knee, it is localised to the thigh area. This is a phrase mainly used for dresses or skirts. It is a common length in fashion for 2012 showing at Prada S/S 12 in block colour patterns with a lightly pleated dress, flickering just above the knee. Anna Sui S/S 12 saw this length in 70’s inspired paisley patterns but Matthew Williamson A/W 12 produced a unique style in this length, clearly staying at this length at the front of dresses but elongating the length at the back.
