Paul Smith

Paul Smith Man Autumn-Winter 2017-18 – The unisex catwalk was a first by Paul Smith and it sent out a very empowering message.  The use of male and female models walking together in a show is not new. Here it was different since Paul Smith is more known for his use of masculine tailoring.

The female form was not left unacknowledged.  Paul Smith used shapes that complimented the feminine silhouette. High waisted, narrow trousers balanced the use of structured shoulders.  Feathered and paisley prints were on silk blouses and dresses. They gave a sense of flow amid structure.

Menswear consisted of well-constructed checked suits. In true Paul Smith sense, there was brilliant use of colour. Whether it was the emerald green checked suit or the coral turtleneck, the colour palette is admirable.

This was a strong smart collection. Even the more casual outdoor jackets were teamed with suits. It worked well due to Smiths creative of mixing colours, prints and textures.
