Balmain Homme

Balmain Homme Autumn-Winter 2017-18 – Balmain does what Balmain is known for. The show featured grand looks that played on the notion of the ‘rockstar’.  Oliver Rousteing had said that this collection is where fashion meets music.  Black leather jackets and military boots were expected. Clashing garments and busy looks were presented with an attitude.

The textiles played a crucial part here. Textured prints were layered with one another. Chunky knits, studded detailing and necklaces also made an appearance. One look featured a colourful embellished jacket, fringe detailing, a hounds tooth bag and snakeskin thigh high boots.  This collection could be interpreted either way. Rousteing expects this as he pushes his creativity towards his own terms.

It was great to see male and female models together in this show. The women’s softer looks were presented well, with the use of following fabrics and attention paid to the outcome of the silhouettes.

Whatever the reaction may be, Rousteing’s energy and passion for what he does has to be applauded.
