Spring-Summer 2013 – Replacing Stefano Pilati, Hedi Slimane had some big shoes to fill for a debut collection. The black box of a catwalk space set the scene for the rock chic that was about to descend. The silhouette was slick, with clean styling and sharp shapes. Super skinny trousers were worn with billowy chiffon blouses which translated onto the sleeves of maxi-dresses. Black tuxedos were representative of the immaculate tailoring which worked wonderfully with oversized hats. It was a strong look in all areas from black maxi dresses with a cascade of chiffon to chic oversized neckties. The tight fit was paired down many times: tight dresses had flouting capes, ultra-skinny trousers with looser blouses, and huge waist belts squeezed in a spurge of lace dresses with ruffled hems. Like the skinny trousers, capes were a key look on dresses, they came in chiffon, leopard print and black netting. Leather was also there, making stiff jackets and trousers. It was the perfect amount of rock for a strong first collection.
