Autumn-Winter 2014/15 – Presenting a collection that felt reminiscent of cubism style artwork was Jonathan Saunders and his AW14 ready-to-wear range. With an array of kooky prints and a mash-up of contrasting patterns, Jonathan Saunders’ collection was intriguing, to say the very least.
The centre point of this collection was its prints and colours; edgy, geometric patterns met diagonal stripes and retro prints whilst the colour palette combined dark shades, neons, pastels and metallics. Yet, despite its apparent abandonment of consistency, it felt uniformed in its exploration of clashing colours.
Unsurprisingly, the materials that made up the collection were equally varied as sequins clashed with brown leather, glitter, knitwear and fur. Yet, despite its avant-garde aesthetic, the shapes in the collection made it very accessible for everyday wear. The full length coats and evening dresses, for example, felt perfectly suited for AW.
With a collection this season that was both artistic and wacky, Jonathan Saunders proved once again that the only rules he plays by are his own. Whether you hate this collection or you absolutely adore it, undeniably, you won’t be forgetting it.
