Alberta Ferretti Woman Spring Summer 2017 – The Alberta Ferretti collection saw a change of direction for the brand. There was a recognisable departure from the romantic whimsicality of her previous collections. This was instead replaced with a celebration of the independence and strength of women.

The show commenced with a black leather bandeau tied with tassels that was almost reminiscent of armour, embodying the edgier feel to the collection. Tiered jewel tone skirts were paired with big buckled belts and structured trousers contrasted the otherwise light fabrics. Ferretti included folkloric elements through the use of colourful flower embroidery and tassels paired with floating layered blues and purples.

Later models walked in all black or white, still carrying the same folklore design but with a slightly sexier feel. Many of the dresses included sheer laced fabrics and black bra straps peeked out from under unbuttoned shirts. These lingerie details kept the collection sensual whilst still emulating Ferretti’s emphasis on feminine strength.
