Maison Martin Margiela
Spring-Summer 2014 – Re-imagining and re-designing what we’ve come to think of as the ‘avant garde’ this season was Maison Martin Margiela.
Margiela’s collection embodied a diverse and exciting colour palette making his use of colour far more extravagant than any other designer’s we’ve seen so far this season.
Using a broad range of vintage fabrics Margiela created a range that embodied mis-match prints, daring patterns and elaborate shapes. In this imaginative and quirky collection wacky 60s patterns met 70s florals and clashed with kaleidoscope prints.
Memorable items within the collection included a tattoo print top, a full length coat made up of different panels of vintage fabric, a mini dress completely decked out in sequins and a pair of box shaped tassel cuffs.
With an array of prints and colours bursting on to the catwalk through a series of unusual designs, Maison Martin Margiela’s Haute Couture collection stood out as the most unique and imaginative this season.
