Mesoamerica

Mesoamerica refers to an area of South America where many of the pre-Colombian civilisations flourished. Mesoamerican art and architecture was extremely famous for its use of pattern, colour and abstraction. Like the Maya civilisation, the main influence that Mesoamerica has had on modern fashion is the use of traditional Aztec print and bright colours which are often referenced as a trend by modern fashion magazines. Animals such as serpents and horses are often used in Mesoamerican art, and this use of animal motifs in an abstract way is a technique sometimes used by designers in reference to Mesoamerican history.
