Stiletto

 

Stiletto shoe has a pointy shape at the front and a very thin heel. The stiletto is named due to the heel actually called stiletto. They date back to the 18th century also portrayed through paintings of the times. In the late 1950s, stilettos were mainly considered a fetish item only and the drawings from the 1800’s showed them as such. As the style gained popularity, they were worn with everything due to theirs appearance of height and illusion of longer legs. High heeled shoes in general are feminine but stilettos represent the ultimate in femininity. When they first became popular in the 1950s, designers recognized that women were tired of the drab war time fashions of the 1940s and stilettos filled the gap. Later in the 1980s they softened the masculine cut of power dressing. Today stilettos are more popular than ever and the heel keeps getting thinner and higher than ever.
