Bottega Veneta

Spring-Summer 2014- Today for Bottega Veneta we had a darkened collection for Spring/ Summer where the focus was put more upon the cut and construction of the pieces as opposed to the colours or prints. Such a refreshing change as you can start to see collections merge into one once you see colour and print after one and other.

The silhouettes were reminiscent of the put together 50’s housewife with nipped in waists and voluminous calf length skirts. We saw shirts with deep rolled up cuffs, dresses were full of applique, and be it embellishment or over exaggerated ruffles and pleating. It has an Eastern feel to it with relaxed origami shapes and draped structure we are used to seeing within clothes of the monks, but team all of this with subdued monochrome pallet and bursts of rich wine and olive colours and it’s clear to see that these pieces are intended to be taken out of your wardrobe season after season.
