Scrim
Scrim fabric is a gauze fabric. It is a very lightweight fabric and is usually made from cotton, or sometimes flax. The main uses of Scrim fabric are in curtain making, because of its translucent and semi-transparent finish. It is also used for book binding and upholstery. Scrim is able to both reflect and transmit light. This reason means that it is used frequently in theatres for stage backdrops. Scrim is constructed using a rectangular weave and can be used in clothing, usually to cover the face or head. It was used extensively in camouflage as the wearer can see out but others are prevented from seeing in.
