Gazar

Gazar Fabric is a plain woven fabric, usually made from silk or wool. It is crisp and has a smooth texture. It is manufactured with highly twisted yarns that are doubled up and woven as one. Silk gazar is often used in bridalwear and evening dresses as it retains its shape well. It is similar to organza because of it stiffness and the fact that it is sheer. Couturier Christobal Balenciaga used silk gazar extensively in his collections form 1960-1968 as he helped to develop it in collaboration with a Swiss textile firm. He liked the fabrics ‘Clay-like’ properties.
