Dungaree

Dungaree fabric is a coarse cotton fabric that used mainly for work wear. It is thought to be named after a small Indian village near Bombay called Dongari Kapar, where the coarse calico fabric was first made. This fabric was originally used to make trousers that feature and attached front section that covers the chest with shoulder straps to hold it up. These were named Dungarees after the fabric and the name has stuck, even though Dungarees nowadays are usually made from Denim or other fabrics. Dungaree fabric is hardwearing and durable and this is why it is used for overalls and other utility clothing.
