Coburg

Coburg fabric is a thin, single twilled worsted fabric. It is usually made from cotton or silk. Coburg is manufactured using smooth, long lustrous yarns, spun from long staple fibres. This mean that the shorter fibres are removed in a process called carding. This fabric is characteristically smooth with no nap. It is typically dyed or printed and can be used for dresses or lining fabrics. Coburg fabric derives its name from the city of Coburg in Germany where it was first manufactured. It is constructed in an uneven sided twill, which gives the fabric a very pronounced twill effect. Coburg fabric is generally very lightweight and inexpensive.
