Cluny Lace

Cluny Lace is a strong ivory or white bobbin lace. It is usually made of cotton, silk or linen. Cluny Lace can be recognised from other types of lace by its circular wheel-like designs. It was first manufactured in the middle of the 19^th Century in France and was later manufactured in Belgium and England. Cluny Lace is generally used as a trimming on dresses or for insertions. It takes its name from the lace work that was exhibited in the 16^th and 17^thCentury at the Cluny Museum in Paris, where the inspiration was taken from. It can either be manufactured by hand or by machine.
