Challis
Challis Fabric is a very soft, lightweight fabric that is constructed using a plain weave. It is generally made from wool, but cotton, viscose, synthetic fibres or other blends can also be used. Challis fabric was first produced in England in the 19th Century and is sometimes printed with small paisley or floral designs. This fabric can be used for ties, blouses, dresses and sportswear. Challis fabric combines the weight of the wool with a lightness and semi-transparency. It has a smooth, even texture which makes it suitable for elegant garments.
