Canvas
Canvas fabric is a strong, heavy fabric. It is made using a plain weave and traditionally it was made of hemp. Canvas can also be made from cotton, jute, linen or synthetic fibres. It is generally left unbleached and was formally used to make garments. Nowadays however, it is mainly used for bags, linings and shoes. It can also be used as a base for embroidery. Canvas is heavy and dense and can be used for other applications such as in sails, tents and awnings. This fabric can also be treated so that it is fire retardant or water resistant.
