Acrilan

Acrilian is a synthetic acrylic fibre, the trade name of the fabric Polypropenonitrile. Its properties are that it is soft, strong and crease resistant. It is also washable, moth and mildew resistant, it will not shrink and it can be heat set, into pleats for example. Acrilan dyes very well and can be used for fabrics, carpets and upholstery.  Acrilan is made in a very complex chemical reaction, primarily from a compound called acrylonitrile, made from acetylene and Hydrogen Cyanide. It is a continuous filament fibre, because it is man-made, made by squeezing liquid ‘Acrilan Resin’ through a spinerette and allowing it to cool and harden to form the fibre.
