Karl Lagerfeld behind the camera for Fendi film

Posted on

Karl Lagerfeld has collaborated with Rome-based luxury house Fendi since 1965. His latest work for the brand saw the German (who shoots films and campaigns as part of his other job as creative director at Chanel) on the Italian coast, shooting a two and a half minute video of Fendi’s Spring-Summer 2013 campaign stars enjoying a holiday adventure set to a tribal beat.

Titled “Peplum People,” the film was produced on the set of the brand’s latest print advertising shoot. Supermodels Kati Nescher and Saskia de Brauw, looking slick in sunglasses and gelled hair, trot around town in the brand’s summer styles. A pair of gladiator-outfit-clad male models, Joseph Dolce and Willy Cartier, strip off for some splash-about fun in the pool before the foursome unite for an evening out. The boys are dressed up in Fendi tuxedos while Nescher and de Brauw show off the brand’s golden red carpet outfits.

This isn’t Lagerfeld’s first fashion film. In 2010, he directed a “Remember Now” 15-minute short for Chanel, and followed it up with “The Tale of A Fairy” in 2011, starring models Kristen McMenamy and Freja Beha Erichsen and actress Anna Mouglalis, in a dreamlike scenario on the French Riviera.
