Autumn-Winter 2011/12 – It was like a packet of sweets had been fired onto the catwalk with this collection. Pastel palettes made the collection varied and colourful like baby pink, soft teals and yellows burst down the catwalk. Bill Gaytten had made a scene, unsurprising since he has been named the successor of John Galliano’s eponymous label. The sharp edges and graphic prints were the feature of the day. Vogue fashion director Lucinda Chambers explained: “it was cutting and layering like the inside of a shell”. Rainbow pleats gave body to tops and skirts and the crackled black and white print dominated the collection also. A mix-match of prints created a flamboyant collection which many may find intrusive to the intricate and delicate tailoring of Galliano.  Although the huge ball dresses and bustier dresses were ever present, it was new era for the house of Dior. Fun, funky and vibrant, Gaytten set a very different scene this season.
