Spring-Summer 2010 – John Galliano was on top form to create his aristocratic-like collection. The theatrics were all there, an impressive backdrop of cascading fabric and bouquets of flowers and powerful models with their dramatic stances. Plush fabrics created voluptuous clothing: full bodied skirts were nullified by evern fuller ball-gown dresses. Big peplums added to the buxom silhouette. They adorned jackets, blouses, skirts and dresses. A blood red jacket paired with a side saddled navy skirt was of heritage status and accessoriesed with a riding crop and top hats; the latter screamed old gentry, a status prevalent throughout the show. Next came the delicate lace cocktail dresses in shimmering white, lemon, baby blue and peach: they adorned frills and extravagant hats for an ultra-feminine feel. Wrapped bodices and fulsome skirts were incredibly dramatic and a great way to finish such a rich collection.
