Spring-Summer 2013 – Riccardo Tisci gave a clerical performance combining the religious cloth of ancient times and the more modern wear of today. As churchlike organ music played over the speakers we watched as priest collars were combined with sexy modern fabrics like nylon and leather, see through oversized t-shirts were printed with graphics of the Madonna and there was length in shirts and coats much like a religious smock. An eerie air to the show gave it more of a cult feel than a “lord is my saviour” one, which Tisci was trying to convey in “the cult of communion”. There was an underground virtuousness to the collection, religion with an edge as fashion rather than an ode to religion.
