Comme des Garçons

Spring-Summer 2012 – Rei Kawakubo’s theme this season: Tailoring for Punks, gave us every possible interpretation of the punk style. With apron like and shirt dresses in dark colours, pulled up socks and slick back hair we are reminded of the Goth punk of the early nineties, then taken back to the punk rock of the eighties with bright pinks and red leathers, sleeveless trench coats with baggy cropped trousers and frilly sleeved t-shirts. It focuses on the unconformity of punk fashion, where, although it became a style, there were always touches of the bizarre, shown here with the seemingly African crown like headwear, the papery Asian style hats and the frills on jackets sleeves and short fronts.
