Spring-Summer 2011 – This show almost felt like an Annie Lennox concert with special guest rather than a Dolce & Gabbana catwalk show. They seemed to go back to basics, offering a wardrobe’s much needed staples rather than new cutting edge pieces. This isn’t an insult, however, as their style is flawless. Crisp white three piece suits, in linen and cotton, silk shirts, perfectly tailored around the immaculately sculptured bodies of the models. They showed luxury underwear, vest tops and casual trousers, sheer thin knit t-shirts and silk boxer shorts. The looks get more edgy when the colour turns to black, silk suits with skinny ties, a black and white striped jumpsuits and a leather jacket. It becomes slightly peasant like cropped trousers and flat caps, the shirts with a button down low v-neck and collar, and pieces of rope through the belt holes.  They seemed to emphasise the back to basics theme when the model Tony Ward came out, being the model from their first ever men’s campaign. This collection was nothing but simple elegance to this show.
