Autumn-Winter 2012/13 – Bottega Veneta offered a master class on how to do high-end glamour. As has been the trend for so much of Milan, the opening scenes of black dominated straight-cut coats, knee-length boots, blazers and pencil skirts. Sky-high black leather gloves extended way over the elbow giving otherwise beautiful dresses ultra attitude. Even so, it was far cry away from utter darkness as each piece shone and sparkled thanks to some well-placed glittering embellishment. A sense of the 1920s ‘new woman’ reverberated throughout the entire show: first it came via the masculine tailoring, cropped trousers and ankle socks, and minimal lipstick, then came the purple dresses, slick to the body creating an uber-feminine physique, especially when paired with a glistening waist-belt. The finale dresses were nothing short of dreamy- velvet, ultra long, and incredibly classy.
