Christopher Kane

Autumn-Winter 2011/12 –  Interesting and innovative as always, Kane proved that he is still a hot contender at fashion week. Called the ‘liquid collection’ the show was inspired by lollipops and pencil cases he had at school. Despite the creativity, Kane wanted to maintain wearability and sophistication. Thus, the silhouette was simple. Pencil skirts were conservative and jumpers were nothing short of ordinary. The extraordinary came from the crochet that made up skirts, fitted cardigans and jumpers in greens, browns, turquoise and grey. The initial tea-cosy semblance transformed into the liquidity Kane had spoken of. Stripes of plastic rippled down the collar or created entrances to pockets. The plastic wriggled around waists in green and blue or red and pink forging a marbled effect on black dresses. These dresses had panels missing filled with barely there netting or at times leaving the midriff nude. Finally, iridescent sequins created mermaid like dresses purporting the ingenuity of Christopher Kane.
