Autumn-Winter 2011/12 – It was all about the coat for Christopher Bailey this season. They came in all different shapes, colours and fits. The trench coat was recreated and moulded into cocoon, princess and straight shapes, notwithstanding the wide trumpet sleeves which were omnipresent. Three-quarter length bulky ones were drawn in with course military fastenings. Colour-wise red, orange and yellow hammered home the eclectic array of coats. Lumberjack checks were the pattern of the moment, fitting next to the tweed coats with fur edges. Volume-tastic one might say as Bailey created a collection with so much room in the clothes. Knitted jumpers were given extra body with thick fur sleeves and when teamed with a pair of heavy wedge platform boots it was transparent what next season’s Burberry girl is all about; a bolshie statement.
