Aquascutum

Autumn-Winter 2011/12 –  The debut of Joanna Sykes distinguished a turning point for the house. Entitled ‘English Icons’, Sykes combined a new, clean aesthetic with Aquascutum’s rich brand heritage. The outcome was a fresh look. The combination of new with old was seen throughout the show. Loose fit tweed trousers were styled with vibrant tops in blue and orange. Tweed skirts had an underlay of soft orange. Herringbone tween trenches bedecked blue Puffa at the neckline. The coat and jacket being a vocal feature came in a variety of styles. Wool neoprene Parkas, short Puffa jackets, oversize sleeveless blazers and bonded leather jackets (with matching leather skirts) assured Aquascutum was the place to go for the outerwear. The silhouette draped leading to an allure of layering but upon closer inspection a miscellany of fabrics created the laid back look. An incredibly current collection brought Aquascutum into the twenty-first century.
