Paul & Joe Women Spring Summer 2016 –

Bright colours and Miami Vice style prints were key to Sophie Mechaly’s SS16 Paul & Joe collection.  A palm print was the main feature of the looks, emblazoned onto shirts, bags, swimwear, and graphic t shirts, in an array of bright colours (orange and blue being favoured).  This was offset by the inclusion of metallic silver, which was laser cut and fashioned into a dress, trainers and bags.

Mechaly’s collection juxtaposed the masculine and the feminine: the collection was 1980s power dressing with a modern twist (like the fabulous metallic silver trousers!).  Tinted sunglasses added to the whole Miami Vice vibe, while ruffled silk dresses had parrots printed onto them to give them a sense of cool.  Jeans were embellished with crystals, while sleeveless cricket sweaters were paired with silk shorts and pointed courts.  The ambitious young designer’s collection felt neatly put together.
