Spring-Summer 2013

Always a hot ticket for the couture season, Jean Paul Gaultier didn’t fail to impress with a Moroccan inspired collection featuring such a variety of looks it was near impossible to guess what would appear after each model strode off stage. Opening with vertical stripes in earthy shades of billowing chiffon, the shoulder was once again in focus, whether garments hung seductively down one arm, or off the shoulders completely. As the looks continued, we were treated to shades of khaki in tiers of lace, sleek black tuxedos, slim patchwork trousers and sumptuous jewel coloured fabric draped across the body. The show ended with a dramatic wedding gown, but the biggest surprise hid underneath, as four children were revealed tucked beneath the hooped skirt. A charming end to an exhilarating show from Gaultier.
