Spring-Summer 2013
Opened by a violinist swathed in a Grecian style dress in pure white, Stephane Rolland presented an array of monochrome floor length looks for his Spring Summer 2013 couture show. From simply sculpted separates, peppered with broken petals across the shoulders, to billowing chiffon dresses gathered at the waist, garments were striking and reminiscent of the figure of a swan. Mirroring their regal pose, the pure white fabric was occasionally dipped into inky black, enveloping the model’s in the birds vast wings, and folds of fabric opened at the neck like the bud of a tulip. Black and white feathers trickled across the lower lengths of the dresses, whilst the upper silhouette took the form of simple jackets that were nonchalantly buttoned at the hips. Dusky grey formed the palette as the show went on, almost like the downy feathers of a cygnet, before their pure feathers emerge, like the flowing white dresses that closed the show.
