Autumn-Winter 2013/14 

The backdrop signified to a Mongolian inspiration with mountains and perched wolves that helped bring the concept alive. For Etro, whose aesthetic is an abundance of bold, their latest collection followed in hot pursuit.

In their tale, Etro see layering as key so silhouettes were bulked out and swathed in rich wool, velvet and leather with large paisley prints or zigzag tailoring. Under these warmers came turtlenecks, scarves and thick knits that when not under billowing coats where under tailored blazers in a plethora of patterns and tones with tribal prints dotted throughout. With all of this loose layering devouring the upper body, the lower body interestingly remained tight, as wool slim trousers in the same fabrics and patterns as seen on top were above printed slippers, moccasins and snow boots which came in fur.

It may seem a bit too much at first, but by the end you understood that the collection was a luxurious play on texture and print not intending to please everyone, as Etro have always been individual and honour their aesthetic rigorously. And you have to admire that.
