Medicine bag

A medicine bag would normally be used in tribes in order to receive help from natural spirits. It would have been carried around the neck with a long strap and a drawstring fastening. Inside, the bag would have contained items of their homeland in and normally would have been carried by the medical man.

Medicine bags may be associated with a bandolier bag too which is similar in use and design yet it may be pieced with leather. A medicine bag today is often decorated with tribal items to show reference to its history.
