Yasmin Le Bon Biography
Yasmin Le Bon was born in Oxford in 1964 and she is an Iranian-British model.
Yasmin’s modelling career began when she was discovered by a local modelling agency while working part time in a boutique. Yasmin never planned on becoming a model and at first just saw it as extra pocket momey. Yasmin said: “I had always known that I was tall and maybe quite good looking, but I was never going to pursue modelling too young. I did a few jobs with a local agency in Oxford, where I grew up, for extra fag and booze money during school. I didn’t have any plans for after school so I went to Models 1 in London, the only agency I knew about.”
Yasmin shot to success in the 80s when she became part of the infamous group of ‘Supermodels’ that changed the face of fashion as we know it. She frequently worked and socialised with other greats of that era such as Cindy Crawford. From the beginning of her career Yasmin was always a popular choice for magazine covers and the mid-80s saw her featuring on the front of an enviable list of top fashion magazines including Elle, Vogue, Cosmopolitan, ID and Harper’s Bazaar. Her success within the magazine industry continued for many years and in 1995 she guest edited Elle magazines 10th Anniversary edition.
In 1987 Yasmin was shot by Wayne Mader, alongside Estelle Lefebure for a Guess campaign. This propelled her success and landed her many more campaigns running until this day including Chanel, Versace, Pantene, Breast Cancer, Banana Republic, Escada, Matthew Williamson and Christian Dior.
Alongside magazine covers and campaigns Yasmin is also a firm favourite on the catwalk and has walked for fashion heavyweights such as Yves Saint Laurent and Dolce & Gabbana.
