Tatjana Patitz Biography
Tatjana was born in 1966 in Hamburg, Germany and worked as a model and actress.
Tatjana’s career took off aged 17 when she began working in Paris. Just a few years into working as a model in 1985 Tatjana was featured on the cover of Vogue, this prestigious shoot led to more than 100 further appearances on magazine covers including Elle, Marie Claire, Cosmopolitan and Harpers Bazaar. Tatjana was a particular favourite of the Vogue powerhouse and was featured by their American, French, Italian, German, Spanish and Australian editions.
Through her prolific work for magazines Tatjana has been photographed by some of the most iconic fashion photographers of all time including Peter Lindbergh, Bruce Weber and Herb Ritts. Tatjana was also featured in Peter Lindbergh’s book ’10 Women’.
As is common with all great models Tatjana has also appeared in television adverts for huge brands such as L’Oreal, Revlon and Ralph Lauren. One of Tatjana’s most famous campaigns was for Calvin Klein, the shoot remains to this day one of her most iconic.
Though mostly retired from the industry Tatjana has been the face of Marina Rinaldi since 2009 and has returned to the catwalk for a select set of designers including Jean-Paul Gaultier and Chanel.
As well as becoming an internationally recognised model Tatjana also works as an actor, she even relocated to California in order to further her acting career. In 1987 she appeared in a music video for Duran Duran, this was one of her first exposures in film, she then went on to appear in films ‘Rising Sun’ and ‘Restraining Order’. Tatjana was also honoured by appearing in the now iconic music video ‘Freedom’ for George Michael, in which other supermodels such as Cindy Crawford also appeared.
Tatjana had a long term relationship with singer Seal, after they broke up Tatjana had her first son, Jonah with a marketing executive from whom she is now separated.
Tatjana has spoken publicly about how out of place she felt in the modeling world: “The low points were having to travel so much and being exhausted. I always thought that modeling wasn’t who I was; it was what I did. It didn’t define me.” Tatjana now lives on a ranch in California.
