Toile De Jouy

Toile De Jouy pattern usually consists of an off-white background. The pattern on top of this is a repeated pattern that is a fairly complex scene. This scene usually depicts a romantic scene such as a couple having a picnic. This pattern is most commonly blue but it can also be black or red. Toile De Jouy fabric is generally used in upholstery and was first produced in the mid-18th Century.
