Tracery
Tracery is the gothic patterns in stonework. These were increasingly popular in architecture in the 13th Century and the patterns used are intricate and delicate. These are mainly floral or geometric and have some Islamic inspiration. Tracery patterns can be used on fabrics and are printed onto a finished piece of fabric rather than colour woven in. These fabrics are used mainly for upholstery, and the background and the pattern are usually two different colours.
